LETTERS TO SYMBOLINE

Dear Symboline,

I read your column in the Phoenix with great interest. I find zodiac sign characteristics matching peoples' personalities quite extraordinary. I wonder if there is the same relevance when seeking a new relationship. Could you tell me what the best match for a Libra is? Another Air sign? I know Scorpio is a no-no for us :) My date of birth is 10/21/58, I think around 3 a.m. Some sources say I am a Scorpio, most say I am a Libra. Or am I on the cusp? If you need to know more specifics about me, please let me know. I'm using this as guideline data to find a new man in my life -

Thanks in advance -- Ken

Dear Ken,

Oh Happy Day -- you're a Libra, for sure, at 27 degrees. With Mars Rx in Gemini, I'd say another air sign would be "too easy." Have you tried a fire sign guy (not Sagittarius, unless you enjoy being dominated, which Sadges don't like to do). Scorpio really isn't so bad -- your natal Jupiter is in Scorpio, and you could bring out a generous side in one another. I love this problem. If you decide to write a classified ad using this information, I'd love to see it. All best, Symboline (I'm half-Armenian)

Dear Symboline,

I am involved with a Pisces who came on very strong in the spring and is now holding me at arm's length. Am I compatible in any way with a Pisces? I'm a Capricorn.

Capricorn is very compatible with Pisces -- have seen this a lot. September and October don't have happy angles to that sign, however. Read moon signs if you need specific information, but make your moves when the moon is in a fire sign, if you want any reaction.

Dear Symboline,

I'm trying (mightily) to finish my doctoral dissertation and find a job during 2000-2001. I've been semi-successfully suppressing my Gemini ways that do not facilitate these goals. My question is, how much help can I expect from my chart in completing these long sought, dearly desired goals? My birthday is May 22, 1954.

thanks very much --GB

Dear GB -

Barely a degree of Gemini gives you all that wonderful Taurus work-ethic/anxiety/please-them-avidity that will save you from Twinsie walk-away-from-it-all spazz-outs. If you follow (we're moving house here, and my motor functions are gross indeed).

2000-2001 means Saturn is do-si-doing right over your sun for much of it. It's a great time to do a monstrous amount of work, weeping occasionally over the word-processor, but when your tears are dry, you'll be able to pitch your chapters like you're sitting in an agent's office. You've got moon in Capricorn, just conjunct with Mars. My advice -- when the moon is in an earth sign, force yourself to work, no matter how much self-doubt happens. When the moon is in Capricorn, allow yourself to break one glass object during each day of the transit. You'll find that you'll have lots of energy from early November through Thanksgiving, but your confidence will fade just before Christmas. Hang in, be prepared to be ruthless with data in March and April, when you get a Mars return. / Sym.

Hi Symboline!

I just wanted to let you know that there is at least one faithful Capricorn reader out there. My info is December 27, 1973, 8:43 p.m. Houston, MS. Of course, my draw to astrology may come more from all of my planets in Aquarius. I am involved with a 'Megacrab' as one of your readers termed it. His birthday is July 5, 1974, 7:44 p.m. Memphis, TN. We are having an awful time of it. He wants love and attention, and I have intense desires for freedom. On top of all that, I still greatly care for my timeless flame, born April 23, 1976, 1:23 p.m, Memphis, TN. We communicate everyday, and he and my partner are good friends. I have more than successfully put myself in a position of loving two beautiful people at one time. Seems as if my partner and I are never on the same schedule.....when he wants to try, I don.t, and vice versa. In addition, we each have our unresolved other that we easily slip back into thinking about in those off times. It seems like we are in a loop. Any suggestions? I have been unable to get any astrologer to touch this question. I realize that a lot of my own inner battle has to do with being earth in personality and raw energy (Mars), then with all this air and fire otherwise ... I am constantly at odds with myself, and with my partner! Do you have any suggestions for me?

Saturnine --Lorin

Dear Lorin

Hmmm, well let's take this in order. You'd have a better shot at consistent romance if your genders were reversed (but had the same birthdays). Since THAT'S obviously not a solution, let me tell you to be careful with your own expectations -- the Cancer relationship is going to go through some gut-wrenching strife between Thanksgiving and Christmas (if you haven't already -- geez, I'm late with my mail this week :-)

As a Capricorn with a "one true love" who isn't the person you're with -- well, that tells me you're with crab-boy out of loyalty and/or fear and/or flattery. For what it's worth, you've got some very pleasant aspects in your chart that say Comfort First, even while the air (Venus and the moon? Can we say "femme fatale?")

Because your two flames are so similar in birth year, you'd think they'd have more in common. Alas, crab-boy has Mercury retrograde -- he's misunderstood even when he's talking-really-slowly. While bull-boy has Mars in Cancer -- he's more passive with his aggression. Especially if he and your partner are in contact.

My suggestion: keep reading moon signs, and when the moon is making a difficult angle to your sun (cardinal sign) or Mars (fixed sign) hold off on your most cutting remarks and behaviors in domestic sphere. Even if you come home really, really late.
